Madhya Pradesh is the largest state of India and lies almost in the centre of the country. The land where nature is at its magnificent best, has a lot ot offer tourists. The land is a plateau with the Vindhya and Satpura ranges giving a welcome break in the otherwise flat terrain. The rivers Narmada and Tapti, running from east to west, and Chambal, Sone, Betwa, Mahanadi, and Indravati flowing from west to east arise from these mountains.

The home of Kalidas, the great Sanskrit poet and Tansen, the musician jewel of Akbar's court, Madhya Pradesh has a rich history. The national parks of Kanha, Bandhavgarh, Shivpuri and others provide sanctuary to a large number of animals including the tiger. The ruins of historical monuments built by rulers like Ashoka, the Sungas, Chandragupta Vikramaditya, Harsha, Raja Bhoj, the Chandelas, the Delhi Sultans and the Mughals can be seen in the state.

The three main tribes of Madhya Pradesh are the Gonds, the Bhils and the Oraons.

Best time to visit Madhya Pradesh

October to March (Winter) is the best time to visit the place.

April May and June is the best time to visit for spotting tigers as the vegetation is less and water holes dry up so chances of spotting them are more.

  • Kanha - The  biggest of all the others parks, can go into the interiors of the jungle to spot tigers. Spotting of tigers has a good chance here.
  • Bandhavgarh - Highest density of tigers are here but much of rush here. Good chance of spotting tigers.
  • Pench - A quiet place not much rush better are to prebook and chances are ok. Panna Boat safaris are there, tiger count is less, slim chances of tiger viewing.
  • Satpura the landscape is very beautiful, waterfalls and hiking more prominent than viewing tigers. Chances of spotting tigers slim.
The caravans are equipped with bedroom, washroom, tv, dvd, microwave, fridge.
This fascinating Son-et-Lumiere spectacle evokes the life and times of the great Chandela Kings and traces the story of the unique temples from the 10th century to the present day. Mounted in the complex of the western group of temples, the 50 mins show runs in Hindi and English every evening.
